Autumn Song

I could sleep like a leaf
Forever on a tree
Until all of the leaves
Are woken up by autumn’s touch
Then I will serve the soil
Forever buried in the ground

But sometimes the rain
And the storm will make a leaf fade
Rip it down from its branch
Before it’s time to say goodbye
Still the ground is fueled anyway
New trees will grow, the memory will stay

I am calm if just for a moment

My thoughts are with the ones
That have gone before me
When I walk through my mind
There are trees all crowned with leaves
Those trees are evergreen
Just like in heaven, in hell they are red
